On June 2, local time, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghzi and IAEA Director General Grossi visited Cairo and held trilateral talks with Egypt. Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdulaati met separately with Araghzi and Grossi, followed by a closed-door meeting between the three parties. At the press conference after the meeting, all parties pledged to work hard to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue and denuclearize the region through political and diplomatic means, so as to avoid further escalation in the Middle East. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghzi said that talks with the United States are still being held, and he believes that the talks will be reached if the goal is to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons and not to deprive Iran of its right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
